Servings: 4-5

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh coriander

  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley

  • 1 cup boiled chickpeas

  • 1 cup boiled skinless fava beans (you can use frozen peeled fava beans, but boil them first)

  • 4 garlic cloves mashed

  • 1 medium onion minced

  • 1/4 tsp mixed spices (I use cinnamon, pimento, a pinch of black pepper and nutmeg)

  • Salt to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat the over to 220 degrees.

  2. Place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend very well until you get a soft dough like mixture.

  3. Place the mixture in the fridge for a couple of hours for it to harden a little.

  4. Divide and shape the mixture into small balls, Don't flatten them too much, only a little.

  5. Grease the bottom of a baking tray with some olive oil and line it with the falafel balls. Lightly brush the top of the falafel with some additional olive oil.

  6. Place in the oven until they become crispy on both sides.

  7. Serve with a tahini sauce on the side.
